Bastrombone

Born in Colombia 1982. Starts to play trombone at 10 years old in his high school band. He join the “marco tulio arango” youth orchestra with the foundation “batuta” in Manizales, his city at 12. At 14 years old he join the “orquesta sinfónica de Bellas artes-Universidad de Caldas” as first trombone. At 18 years he won the principal trombone in the national youth orchestra of Colombia.
In the same year he starts his university studies in the National University of Colombia with Giovanny Scarpetta (proncipal of the National symphony of Colombia) and Nestor G. Slavov (principal of “ orquesta filarmonica de Bogotá”). At 20 years he switched to Bass trombone with great succes and at 21 he joined the National Symphony of Colombia (symphonic music national society) as principal bass trombone.
In 2007 he moves to Rotterdam in Holland to continue his studies in the Rotterdams conservatoire with Ben van Dijk (principal bass trombone Rotterdam philarmonic orchestra), Jorgen van Rijn (principal trombone concert gebow orchestra) and Pierre Volders (principal trombone Rotterdam philarmonic orchestra). Pablo has been principal and bass trombone of several international orchestras as “orquesta sinfonica de los paises andinos” by selection between 5 south American countries (principal) , “orquesta simon bolivar (Venezuela, bass trombone), south pacific orchestra (bass trombone) and International Mahler Orchestra “IMO” in Germany (bass trombone).
He works very often with: Amsterdam symphony, Rotterdam philharmonic orchestra, Rotterdams kamer orkest, “continuo” orkest, Helios ensemble -Amsterdam-, Netherlands studenten orkest -NESKO-, “de volharding” contemporary orchestra and Aalborg Symfony in Denmark.
His repertoire goes from the very universal symphonic classic music to jazz, latin jazz, pop, and ethnic music.
